Two held with stolen timber in Barpeta

BARPETA, May 4:  The 32 battalion of SSB based in Bhuyanpara during search operation in Chipatni village in Barpeta district on Tuesday apprehended one person with 30 wooden logs, a sawmill and a generator set. The detained person has been identified as Abdul Majjid (32) of Manipur. Detained Majjid along with the seized items has been handed over to Forest Beat Office Pathsala. The value of seized items is yet to be ascertained by Forest Beat Officer, Pathsala. In another operation, Border outpost Bhuyanpara of 32 battalion of SSB Howly during search operation in Kathalmuri Ghat area in the district apprehended one person with 65 wooden logs, a tractor trolley , a sawmill and one generator set. The detained man has been identified as Asuruddin (19) of Kathalmuri Ghat village of the district. Asuruddin along with the seized items has been handed over to Forest Beat Office, Pathsala. The operations against illegal wood cutters along the border especially in BTAD area have been intensified keeping in view NDFB activities and such operations are yielding results in the form of seizures and apprehensions.
