Two IIT-G students arrested on molestation charge

GUWAHATI, Feb 8: Two IIT-Guwahati students were arrested on Wednesday on charges of molestation filed by a girl student of Gauhati University.  They have been sent to 14-day judicial remand. The two accused students have been identified as Kul Kumbhkar and Ajay Dey. The incident had allegedly taken place on the night of February 3 and the victim filed an FIR with the North Guwahati police station on Tuesday. The girl alleged that the duo spiked her fruit juice and subsequently molested her. “The two IIT-G students were picked up on Tuesday itself, but arrested only on Wednesday after the girl made a detailed statement before the magistrate,” police said. The police official said the girl was a student of Gauhati University Institute of Science & Technology (GUIST), who had gone to attend the annual Alcheringa festival at IIT-G on February 3, and was allegedly drugged and molested by the two male students after the festival was over late that night.
