Two NDFB cadres killed

Haflong, Dec 17: In a major breakthrough, 43 Assam Rifles, Dima Hasao district police and East Jaintia Hills District Police rescued Mahendra Rai who was kidpped on December 4 from East Jaintia Hills district by four armed cadres of NDFB  and an extortion demand of Rs 2 crore was received by his family following a joint operation  conducted  in Block No 17 (Assam Quarry) near Tin Kilo under Umrangso Police Station on the night of Friday. In this operation, two NDFB cadres were killed during the fire fight initiated by the cadres and a 9 mm pistol was also recovered.
