Two NDFB (R) rebels nabbed in Rangia

RANGIA: Two NDFB (Ranjan Daimary faction) cadres were detained by the local public of Hiragata near Rangia under Rangia Police station in Kamrup district on Monday. They were identified as Geremsa Basumatary alias B. Gubung (26) of village Bathoupuri under Sonitpur district and Loni Brahma (23) of No. 2 Singimari near Gosaigaon under Kokrajhar district. According to the public, they came to the village on a motorcycle bearing registration number AS 01 AR 2967 to extort money from the contractor who has been engaged for the construction of the 2.2 km road from Hiragata to Bardol under PMGSY scheme.

When the cadres asked for the demanded amount from one of the staff of the contractor, the public of that locality reached the spot and beat up NDFB cadres who had come to the village from Udalguri designated camp. They also damaged the motorcycle in which they had come to the village. The public informed the Rangia Police about the incident. Police rushed to the spot. A case has been registered in the Rangia Police station. According to Ratan Das, OC Rangia Police Station, the cadres came to the village from Udalguri designated camp. B. Birphulung, self-styled commander, had directed them to collect the money.
