Two Robbery Incidents in Sivasagar

JOYSAGAR: Two separate robbery incidents which took place on Saturday night have created fear among people as well as transport companies. As per information, one robbery took place in Rupahi village of Bhatiapara under Joysagar PS of Sivasagar and the gang of robbers, equipped with pistol, dao and dagger, entered the house of one Reasanta Hazarika by breaking the main wooden door. The robbers reportedly looted gold ornaments, cash, mobile phone and a camera.

In another robbery incident which took place in NH-37 of Amguri town, the gang of robbers looted two goods trucks which were proceeding towards Nagaland carrying food items from Sivasagar and Jorhat. Locals called the police and the police were swift to jump into action and nabbed two robbers of the gang. The apprehended robbers have been identified as Ranjit Das (Rajabari) and Amrit Duwarah (Desang Ghat).

Meanwhile, a police team, led by Sivasagar O/C D. Sarmah, apprehended two thieves, identified as Haridev Das and Sanju Chubbe. The accused were brought to Sivasagar Sadar PS for more interrogation, sources revealed.
