Two shops raided, fake electrical goods seized

Dibrugarh, January 30: A major business establishment, Goenka Electricals, with stores at RKB Path and Engineering Chamber in HS Road in Dibrugarh, was raided by the local police, along with a team of five investigators, supporting staff and court appointed local commissioner, two advocates of Care Intellect LLP- a Delhi based law firm, and seized a large quantity of fake and counterfeit electrical goods.

The electrical goods of Larson & Toubro Limited, seized from the two shops, have been calculated to be worth lakhs of rupees, as stated by the sources of Care Intellect LLP, the law firm who are the pleaders of L&T. The counterfeit goods, as informed, are being manufactured by some Cheni-based business firms, which had been engaged in selling the fake L&T electrical goods.

The aforesaid seizure was carried out following a civil suit filed, by L&T House, Ballard Estate, Mumbai, before the Court of Vineeta Goyal, Additiol District Judge, Patiala House, and New Delhi. As such the Court by an order had given injunction upon the defendants and thereby had appointed a local commissioner to raid the shops and seize the fake electrical goods.

The police team, along with advocate Girish Chaudhury  and local commissioner following the court order raided the two establishments. Later, after preparing the inventory reports, the goods were sealed by the commissioner.  Notably, the selling of counterfeited electrical goods, pose serious safety hazards at workplace, and business centres as substandard equipment may cause critical failure of mechanisms, causing fire breakouts, which may endanger human life and properties.
