Two shot dead in Doomdooma

DIGBOI, May 18: A shopkeeper and a customer died on the spot when some motorcycle-borne miscreants fired at the grocery shop at Rupai-Siding Market under Doomdooma Police Station in Tinsukia district this evening. According to eyewitness accounts, while one of the deceased has been identified as Jit Verma, a resident of Talap Bazar who was an employee at the grocer, the identity and address of the other deceased is yet to be ascertained. The police, with help from the local people, nabbed one of the miscreants named Rupantar Moran. He claimed that he was deputed by ULFA leader Uday Axom to carry out the attack.

“While investigation is being carried out by the police, another group of security agency has been assigned to nab the culprits”, Tinsukia SP Mugdhajyoti Mahanta said.
