Two suspected militants killed in encounter

DIGBOI, Feb 1: Two suspected  militants belonging to the outlawed ULFA and PLA organization  were killed by the Kharsang based 12 Assam Rifles on Thursday morning during an encounter that took place after the suspected ULFA rebels resorted to firing earlier at Kanubari village in Lekhapani in Tinsukia district of upper Assam. In the operation conducted thereafter at Chingsa village under Miao subdivision, the security agencies were able to secure desirable output, thereby killing the two outfits. The militants were identified as Moniram Deori alias Moniram Axom of the ULFA and PLA cadre Kamba Singh of Manipur.

 According to sources, two pistols and one Chinese hand grede were also recovered from the possession of the slain militants. Sources claimed that the two suspected hardcore militants, who had been a mece for the entire belt along Assam -Aruchal border in Tinsukia district, were filly killed during the intense operation in Kharsang area of Changlang district of Aruchal Pradesh.
