MANGALDAI, March 4: The watery grave of two teegers in river Mangaldai on Wednesday under mysterious circumstances has created sensation in the district headquarters town, dampening the festivity of the Doul Yatra.

The deceased have been identified as Shubham Ghosh (18), son of Swapan Ghosh of Ward No. 4 and Bitu Sarkar (18), son of Rabi Sarkar of Ward No. 5. Shubham was a first year HS student while Bitu was appearing in the ongoing HSLC examition.

According to sources, both Bitu and Shubham were seen running from the Gandhi Smriti Udyan side and all of a sudden they jumped into river Mangaldai. On receipt of the information a team of Mangaldai police rushed to the spot only to recover both the bodies after the rescue operation. After the inquest done by an Executive Magistrate, the post mortem examition was performed in Mangaldai Civil Hospital this afternoon and both the bodies were consigned into flames at the public crematorium at Tengabari.

Significantly, the reason why both the teegers were running remains a mystery.
