TINSUKIA, March 23: The Jairampur Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of DAO Division conducted a successful operation in Koriapani village, Jagun in Tinsukia district on Tuesday night and apprehended two Kachin-trained hardcore ULFA (I) cadres identified as Bitu Rajvanshi and Bitul Shimpo. Based on specific intelligence inputs, the battalion swiftly launched an operation and apprehended the duo with a pistol, live ammunition and extortion notes. Both the apprehended cadres are residents of Hasak village under district Tinsukia. Bitu Rajvanshi further divulged to having had links with CORCOM cadres who were responsible for the Pengeree attacks, stated a PIB (defense) press release.
