Tynsong inaugurates Meghalaya Skill Competition

SHILLONG, May 29: Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, in-charge for Labour, Prestone Tynsong inaugurated the Meghalaya Skill Competition, 2018 on Tuesday at the Government Industrial Training Institute at Rynjah in Shillong, in the presence of Meghalaya Additional Chief Secretary, in-charge for Labour, MS Rao.

Speaking on the occasion, Prestone advised the trainees and participants to do well in the competitions as it would provide them exposure to showcase their skills and talents to the outside world.

He also said unemployed youths should make effort to use their potential and talents to establish their own ventures.

He also urged the trainees to take advantage of the training programmes.

“Avail loans from banks to fetch capital for your business establishments, if finance shortage becomes an issue,” he added.

Meanwhile, in his keynote address MS Rao mentioned the different skill fields which have been enlisted as part of the competition, which include carpentry, automobile, electrical works, fashion technology, bakery and cooking, besides others.

He also added that two winners in each category of competitions will be awarded cash prizes and will be selected to compete at the regional skill competition, which is scheduled to be held later this year in Bengaluru, and if they perform well they could even qualify for the global skill competition to be held in Russia in 2019.

He also lauded on the mass participation this year, tallying to 140 participants, and wished each of them their very best.
