Uber driver accused of killings in Michigan

Chicago, Feb 23: An Uber driver was arrested for shooting randomly in three locations in Kalamazoo in Michigan in the US, killing six people and injuring two others. Jason Dalton was charged with murder, assault with intent to commit murder and using a firearm during the commission of a felony, Xinhua quoted prosecuting attorney Jeff Getting as saying. Dalton, 45, appeared at a hearing on Monday and the attorney described him as cooperative yet non-remorseful. Investigators have yet to discern Dalton’s motive. Dalton’s shooting spree has again aroused concerns about the safety of Uber. There is a thorough background check on all driver partners for Uber, Ed Davis of the Uber Safety Advisory Board said. “This individual had the background check completed and there was nothing in his background to indicate he was a problem. He had no record whatsoever,” Davis said. (IANS)
