Shillong, July 3: Even though the ruling Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) coalition have hinted that Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma will be their common candidate for the South Tura by-poll, coalition partners will fight it out for the Ranikor seat. “We will be putting up a candidate in ithe Ranikor by-polls come what may,” a Ranikor United Democratic Party (UDP) functionary said on condition of anonymity. The UDP Ranikor unit is determined to push for the candidature of Pius Marweiñ. It may be pointed out that in February 27 election, Marweiñ lost to then Congress candidate, Martin M Danggo. Danggo is now the National People’s Party (NPP) candidate for the seat UDP president Donkupar Roy said that the party will soon convene a meeting to discuss the matter.
