UDP youth wing moves DC  against ‘sudden’ price rise

SHILLONG, June 11: The United Democratic Party (UDP) Youth Wing Shillong city, on Monday met the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills District PS Dkhar on the sudden hike of essential commodities in the city alleging that traders has taken advantage on the curfew which was imposed by the district administration.

Speaking to media person after meeting the Deputy Commissioner, the general secretary of the youth wing, Manbha Syiemlieh said that the District administration has assured the delegation that if anyone was found selling essential commodities beyond the official price then the trader would be penalized.

He further informed that the Youth Wing will monitor the situation and if they detect any anomaly then the would report it to the authorities concerned so that action is taken against the errant shop owners.

He also informed that the authorities concerned are regularly checking the stock in the wholesale market.

On the possibility of lifting curfew in Shillong as normalcy has been restored,the deputy commissioner informed the delegation that the decision would have to come from the Government’s side.
