ULFA couple held at Tengakhat

DULIAJAN, January 29:  In a setback to ULFA (I), Army and Tengakhat Police on Thursday night in a joint operation apprehended a ULFA (I) leader and his wife from Ulton area under Tengakhat police station. The arrested rebel has been identified as Abhish Gogoi alias Dudu (18), son of Rajak Gogoi, a resident of Tengakhat Lohali Village under Duliajan police station and Puja Marak (20), daughter of Dilip Marak, resident of Bangladesh Sherpur. According to police sources, Dudu was joined banned outfit ULFA (I) in 2011 and subsequently he was sheltered at Bangladesh and had involved in various activities of ULFA.

He got married to a Bangladeshi citizen girl med Puja Marak (20) in the month of December, 2015.

Acting on tip off Tengakhat police and Army on Thursday night launched an operation and arrested the newly married couple at Ulton area when they were on the way to Lohali village under Tengakhat police station.

Police have registered a case (No. 6/16) under section 120 (B), 121, 121 (A) of the IPC and RW Sec 10/13 UAP act against Abhish Gogoi alias Dudu.

Another case also registered against his foreigner wife under section 14 of foreigner act 1946/ S 3 (3) of passport act R/S 6 of Passport Rules 1950. Both are now in the custody of Tengakhat Police. Interrogation is on.
