Union Minister H.N. Ananth Kumar Passes Away at an age of 59 years

Guwahati: Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, and Chemicals and Fertilizers H.N. Ananth Kumar passes away in the wee hours of Monday at a private hospital in Bengaluru. Kumar was diagnosed with lung cancer at an advanced stage in June and breathed his last at an age of 59.

A senior BJP leader and six-time Member of Parliament from Bengaluru South Lok Sabha seat, Mr. Kumar was representing it continuously since 1996. Kumar was an active RSS member as well who had got arrested during the emergency situation in the country.

As stated by the hospital authority in Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Kumar had battled cancer fiercely but succumbed to the disease as the infection had spread to other organs. Kumar left behind his wife Tejashwini and both daughters.

Karnataka government, in respect to the late political leader and as a mark of condolence, has announced holiday for all schools and colleges on Monday.

Mr. Kumar's body will be cremated on Tuesday and before that, it will be kept at National College Grounds, Basavanagudi at 11 am for letting the public and admirers of the late political leader to offer their last prayers. Among the chief attendees, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to pay his respects and participate in the funeral.
