Itanagar, July 7: Hardening its stand against the illegal issuance of Scheduled Tribe certificates (STC) to Tibetan refugees in Tawang district, the All Tawang District Students’ Union (ATDSU) on Friday served a 20-day ultimatum to the Chief Secretary to cancel the STC issued to three individuals.

In a representation to state chief secretary Satya Gopal, the union also demanded action against illegal encroachment on government land in the district.

It urged the chief secretary to constitute a committee to look into the matter of Tibetans benefiting from both STCs and refugee cards, and to also cancel within two weeks the STCs issued to non-Monpas in the district.
The ATDSU had earlier raised the issues in a representation it had submitted to the CS on 29 June.
