Upoar at Diring Tea Estate in Biswanath after Tea Garden worker dies of stomach ache!

Biswanath: Tension prevailed in Diring Tea Estate under Biswanath District after a tea garden worker died due to alleged medical negligence on Sunday evening.

The deceased tea garden worker was identified as Rajen Rowtiya.

Tea Garden worker Rajen was suffering from severe stomach ache following which he was immediately shifted to tea garden hospital. As per the allegations by the local people, it has come to light that Rajen was not provided any medical treatment for at least 5 hr, later, he was referred to Biswanath Civil Hospital for better medication. Looking into the terrible health condition he was then referred to Tezpur Medical Collge Hospital, however, he was declared brought dead.

As per sources, angry tea garden workers on Monday morning gheraoed the Diring Tea Estate boycotting their work since early morning, the workers also threatened to launch an indefinite strike from today onwards. They also blamed the garden manager for the death of the tea garden worker.

Later, the garden workers also had a heated argument with Chah Mazdoor Sangh Biswanath unit President Nagen Gowala who came into the settle the matter with the garden workers, the angry garden workers also attacked Gowala.

Later, Balichang Police personnel rushed to the spot and tried to bring down the situation under control.
