Vietnami province evinces interest in Assam agriculture sector

GUWAHATI, May15: The Hung Yen Provincial Peoples' Committee will be happy to work hand to hand for development in the State agricultural sector of Assam with appropriate technological support. While welcoming the delegation team of the State headed by Atul Bora, Agriculture Minister of the State with a 13-member team of the Assam Legislative Assembly and other departmental officials at the conference hall of the People's Committee of the Province, Mr. Nguyen Van Phong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee stated the thousands year relationship between India and Vietnam and cultural similarity between the two countries. Highlighting the agricultural scenario and model of agricultural extension, Mr.Phong stated that proper banking facilities and market-oriented production policy of the government. Vietnami farmers are able to increase their per capita income. The farmers of the Province are applying biotechnology in their field. Party committee stressed cluster approaches for specific crop and it showed good result, Mr.Phong said.

During the discussion period Atul Bora said that he is fortunate enough to visit and study the agricultural sector of Vietnam. He offered his thanks to the State Secretary of provincial Party Committee Mr.Phong for his valuable suggestions who has the agricultural background. Briefing the agricultural background of Assam, Bora sought technological support, especially in agricultural processing in and marketing in Assam.

Bora and the delegation visited the turmeric growing and processing zone at Khoai Chai District of the province. The team was accompanied by Mr. P. Harish, Indian Ambassador in Vietnam. Earlier Bora with the team visited Vineco Agriculture Investment Production and Development PLC at Vinh Phuc 100 km from Hanoi.
