Voting in Dhekiajuli and Borchola passes off peacefully

DHEKIAJULI: Polling for the Tezpur parliamentary constituency passed off peacefully in 250 and 213 polling stations of Dhekiajuli and Borchola assembly constituencies respectively on Thursday. Voting started at 7 am on Thursday and it was going on till filling of this report. Ashok Singhal, Dhekiajuli MLA, cast his vote at the polling station of Bani Niketan School, Alisinga near Dhekiajuli town and Borsola MLA Ganesh Limbu cast his vote at no. 2 Shantipur LP School of Gorhmara under Dhekiajuli constituency.

A senior citizen of Dhekiajuli, Prajapati Shastry cast his vote at the forest office polling station of Dhekiajuli. He has been casting his vote since Independence. Due to technical error in the EVM, voting at BD Kanoi Middle English School, Hugrajuli was delayed for about an hour. The defective EVM was replaced by a new EVM. Thousands of first time voters in Dhekiajuli and Borchola assembly constituencies were seen standing in long queues in different polling stations. No untoward incident was reported till the filing of this report.
