Itanagar, June 26: A team of Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS) requested Home Minister Kumar Waii to provide financial assistance to Bini Todum who was injured following bombing practice by Indian Air Force (IAF). The retired SSB soldier was seriously injured when an IAF fighter plane dropped a bomb during one of its regular drills over Ruyu village in Dollungmukh circle of Kamle district on June 8 last.

“During a recent visit by our members, we were informed that neither the state government nor the IAF has come forward with offer of financial help,” the APWWS said in a representation to the minister on Monday.

The Society urged the minister to parley with the IAF so that Todum, who is nearly 80 years old, is granted financial support for treatment as well as compensated adequately for the losses incurred. The APWWS further said that state government should take up with the IAF regarding killings and injuries of animals during the drills.

“Safety and security of the citizens and their animals must be secured at all cost”, APWWS added.
