Waive fees for venture college students, demands AIDSO

GUWAHATI, June 23: The activists of the All India Democratic Students’ Organization (AIDSO) today staged demonstration at Dighalipukhuri here demanding waiving of fees of the poor students of the venture colleges of the State. Talking to reporters, AIDSO Assam state committee president Jitendra Chaliha, “The poor students of the State have been deprived of getting education due excessive hike of fees in the colleges. So we have urged the Education Minister to waive fees for poor students of venture colleges.” The protesters, who planned to submit a memorandum to the Education Minister through Kamrup (M) DC, were detained by police. They were, however, released in the evening.
