What is Fake news and misinformation?

A lot of people end up asking the same question over and over again that what is fake news and misinformation and this is the reason today we will be talking about both the things. Media plays a very important role when it comes to public opinion. There are a lot of organs which are known for influencing people who are books, social networking, Cinemas, and radio. The most important point amongst all of them is that these are one of the best ways when you are trying to communicate with the public. The best way of communicating with the public sitting at home is the application of Facebook.

People have realized that platforms like WhatsApp and Facebook end up playing a very important role when it comes to spreading of all the fake news and misinformation amongst people. People have now started to judge if the source of the image is genuine or not. Fake news is generally very inaccurate and this is one of the reasons why Facebook is trying to remove them from their platform. Fake news has already created a lot of problems in the past and Facebook does not want something like that to happen. The reason Fake news is created is to make sure that a certain group of people is influenced and manipulated because of the contents of the news which is not genuine.

Why social media platforms are keeping themselves away from elections?

According to experts, the 2016 elections were influenced by social media platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp. The fake news played a key role by manipulating all the voters to vote a certain way. Facebook has decided that from now on they will not be part of any kind of election promotion and will keep themselves out of it so that they do not attract a lot of attention. Facebook and Google are now taking extra precautionary methods to make sure that they do not actively participate or support any political party. The company has promised that they will try to be more transparent so that people can understand how exactly they work.

What is misinformation?

Misinformation is basically inaccurate information which is known to deceive people by not showing the actual facts of the situation. Facebook is also working hard to make sure that the information which is provided in their platform is not the misinformation. Misinformation has been one of the reasons why there has been a lot of fights and arguments between people. Some of the false stories which have been shared on Facebook has ended up triggering people to act upon it and finally resulting in fights and riots.

All the social media platforms are now working in a joint manner so that they can reach a common goal. All the platforms are trying to remove fake news and misinformation which is present in the platform. A lot of profiles and accounts have already been deleted because of sharing and promoting fake news on this platform.
