Winning start for Assam Police Blues in GSA RG Baruah Super Division Soccer League

GUWAHATI: Assam Police Blues Opened their account in the GSA RG Baruah Super Division Soccer League defeating FC Green Valley by a solitary goal at the Nehru stadium here today. Sanjib Borgohain scored the all-important goal of the tie just one minute before the lemon break.

It was the second game of the competition and both the sides tried to earn full points from the game. However, Assam Police Blues looked much organized than their opponent today. The side could easily increase the victory margin unless they didn’t waste a couple of opportunities in each half of the game.

Police Blues dominated in the first half but still, It looked like that the first 45 minutes of the game would be able to produce any goal as on several occasions they reached close to score but failed to earn the lead. However, AP Blues finally managed to earn the lead in the 44th minutes and entire credit of the goal should go to Sanjib. Sanjib was at the left flank when he received the ball and after taking control on it he quickly entered into the box without giving any opportunity to the opponent defenders. Later Sanjib placed the ball inside the net with an accurate shot.

FC Green Valley made a few attempts in the second half to get the equaliser but the defence line of Police Blues denied them to return the goal.
