Woes of Dibrugarh

Woes of Dibrugarh

We all know that Dibrugarh is the place of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. Since his assuming office, he has not at all contributed to the all-round development of the city. The deplorable infrastructure, the shabby look the city wears, courtesy-Dibrugarh Municipality-all these negative signs compel us to think that the CM is turning a Nelson’s eye to Dibrugarh. The chairperson of the Dibrugarh Municipality is often in the news but not for any commendable works done for the city, but for certain acts of irregularity. We want our CM to intervene and ensure all-round development, free from corruption.

Meanwhile, the CM might be aware of the suffering of the commuters’ vis-à-vis the deplorable road condition. The Convoy Road said to be the ‘Lifeline of Dibrugarh is in a shambles, worse is the condition of the Santipara linking overbridge road (BC Das Road). People visiting Santipara vegetable market have a harrowing tale to tell. The foul, nauseating smell emanating from the dumping of debris speaks volume about the mismanagement of the Dibrugarh Municipality. That apart, the strewn debris from underneath the overbridge, particularly in the rainy season, proffers a shabby scene. At a time, when the deadly Japanese Encephalitis is assuming a killing proportion, the efficacy for keeping clean is hardly exaggerated. Moreover keeping shabby is against our Prime Minister’s ‘Swacch Bharat Abhiyan’.

Through your esteemed daily, we keep an appeal before our CM to look into the grievances of the citizens of Dibrugarh and hope that the inconvenience faced by the people will be done away with before long.

Ashok Bordoloi,

Dibrugarh
