Woman dies after being hit by running train in Naharkatia

Naharkatia: A woman aged in her mid-40s was hit by a running train near RK Jitani Hindi School’s backyard on at around 10.30 am on Saturday morning in Naharkatia.

As per reports, the Jorhat-Tinsukia passenger train heading from Jorhat Town to Tinsukia Hijiguri Railway Station apparently hit the lady from the front while she was reportedly trying to cross the railway tracks.

The matter was informed by the train guard to the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) including Naharkatia Police Force and accordingly the body of the deceased lady was recovered from the spot.

Meanwhile, the identification of the lady has not been ascertained by the Railway officials.
