Woman found unconscious, battling for life in hospital

GUWAHATI, April 16: A semi-nude woman was found unconscious near Lachitgarh High School at Gorchuk in Guwahati this morning. She is now battling for life at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). The development came at a time when dust over crimes against women in the State is yet to settle down.

The woman lying at Gorchuk was first spotted by the local people. They soon informed the police of it. The police came and took her to the GMCH. Her condition is critical.

According to information revealed by the police, the woman, mother of a son reading in Class X, is working in a private company. “She, along with her son, is staying at a rented house at Natun Bazar in the Bashistha area in the city. She is the estranged wife of a man of Bhabanipur in Barpeta district. Her parents are at Golaghat. She had no relations with her husband for around five years,” a police source said. The police are in dark as to how the woman was lying unconscious at Gorchuk. Since the woman is not in a condition to respond to any query from the police, nothing can be elicited from her. According to the police, the woman has injury marks.
