Woman Gang Raped by 5 in Uttar Pradesh

On Sunday, the police said, 5 people allegedly gang raped a woman and burnt her alive inside a temple in a village in Rajpura (area of Sambhal district, Uttar Pradesh). The 5 suspects are relatives of the woman. To avoid police arrest the accused are on the run.

The supposed incident took place on Saturday when thirty-five year old women was in her house with her daughter. Varun Kumar, the station house officer of the local police station said, according to a complaint made by the husband, the suspects barged into the house at around 2.30 am, dragged the women into the temple near their house and gang raped her. The complainant also said that the accused left the place only to return after a while to burn her alive.

Kumar claimed, that the post-mortem report of the victim has antemortem burn injuries as the cause of death. He also added that, whether the victim was raped of gang raped could not be determined, the Forensic Science Laboratory, Moradabad, has been asked to determine the cause of death.

A complaint was filed against Aram Singh, 30, Mahaveer, 45, Charan Singh,20, Gullu, 21, and Bhona alias Umar Pal,22 by the complainant(victim’s husband). Four people related to the accused have been detained and the police are questioning them.

“A total of three police teams with assistance from local intelligence units and surveillance teams are on lookout for the accused,” said Prem Prakash, Additional Director General of Police (Bareilly Zone). “I am personally monitoring the operation and the accused, who are relatives of the woman, will be arrested soon.” However, He, disproves the allegations made by the woman’s family that her calls to an emergency police number went unanswered. Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (Moradabad Range), Binod Kumar Singh said the allegations were being investigated.
