GUWAHATI, June 7: The Sadou Axom Lekhika Samaroh Samiti, Dispur Branch celebrated its first anniversary at Rukmini Nagar, Guwahati on June 5. The Samiti was formed in June 5, 2017 under the initiative of its president, Sulekha Chakraborty Bhattacharya.
The programme was kicked off with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Bashanti Bhattacharya followed by a mesmerizing chorus, ‘Siro Senehi Mur Bhaxa Jononi’. The participants recited their self-composed literary pieces. A few of them were, ‘Jona Nojonar Xangram’ a poem by Lily Pathak, ‘Eti Ahban’ by Pushpalata Bora, ‘Khabar’ by Kalpana Barua and ‘Amabasyar Xexot’ by Meenakshi Deka. A few words on the reality of life and death, which everyone has to encounter one day, were spoken by Anjali Dutta by giving anecdotes from the life of Alexander and Shishupal. Members from the NGO, Voice of Environment, Moharana Choudhury, Minakshi Dutta and MacDonald Choudhury were also present to highlight the prime objective of their venture as the day coincided with World Environment Day. The day concluded with group singing of the state anthem ‘O Mur Apunar Desh’.
