Workshop focuses on development of scientific temperament

MAJULI, Feb 10: Edugenie conducted a three-day hands-on workshop in association with Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC) for students from government schools of class 9 from Ujani Majuli Block. The workshop was aimed at developing observation and experimentation skills, data alysis and developing scientific temperament, whilst providing complete career guidance in the field of science. The kids performed several activities from the field of forensic, applied chemistry, aeromodelling, optics, electricity and magnetism, mathematics, life sciences, engineering and learnt about careers associated to these fields in further details.

The programme also included a session on paper microscopy called Foldscope, which is supported by Stanford University for popularization of hands-on science to address global health. The objective of this workshop was to provide right amount of exposure to careers in science along with providing the pathway to achieve their goals. Similar programs were conducted last year in Paschim Koliabor and lbari block. Edugenie will be conducting two more workshops in Barpeta and Chanderpur next month. Edugenie is a social enterprise which is bringing innovative learning methods to improve mathematics and science education in Assam.
