Workshop held on foldscope microscope in Bajali College, Pathsala

Pathsala: A workshop on foldscope microscope was held at Bajali College here recently. Dr KV Saritha from the Department of Biotechnology of Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, attended the workshop at the post graduate department of zoology. The workshop was held on the use of foldscope microscope to explore unexplored tiny worlds. Mention may be made that in October, 2015, India's DBT announced a programme to make foldscope available across India as a teaching tool for students of biology, chemistry and physics.

A foldscope microscope is an optical microscope made from a sheet of paper and a lens. During her visit she interacted with the students of both zoology and botany. Dr Banashree Mech, assistant professor from the department of zoology, Gauhati University was another resource person of the workshop. Dr Chandana Sarma, principal in-charge of the college attended the programme as the guest of honour.
