Workshop on increasing farmers' income

SIVASAGAR, May 9: With an objective to double farmers’ income by 2022, the District Agriculture Department, in association with ATMA, organized a day-long workshop for generating awareness among the farmers of each development block within the district. In this connection, a workshop was held at Amguri Development Block, which was attended among others by Jorhat MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa. KP Tasa in his speech urged upon the farmers to avail all the facilities and provisions provided by various agriculture-related departments to increase their income and reap handsome profits in the process.

 In Demow, the MLA of Thowra LAC Kushal Duwori called upon the farmers to take up profit-generating occupations like fishery, cattle rearing, duckery, poultry, goat-rearing and cash crops with the help of line departments in order to achieve the target of doubling farmers’ income by 2022. Hundreds of farmers attended the workshop, besides officials of the line departments.
