Workshop on Xattriya Sangeet concludes

LAKHIMPUR, June 12: The special workshop on Xattriya Sangeet, sponsored by Sangeet Natak Academy, held under the aegis of Lakhimpur Satriya Sangeet Bidyalaya, concluded on June 10 with success. Twenty students of the Bidyalaya, above second year level, took part in the workshop which commenced from May 30. Taking part as trainers in the workshop, Namita Baruah, Upen Bhorali, Hari Charan Bhuyan Borbayan, and Surajit Bhuyan administered training on nadubhongi, jhumura, chalinach and gopinach along with oja-pali.

On the occasion of the conclusion of the workshop, a valedictory ceremony was organized in the auditorium of the institution. Hari Charan Bhuyan Borbayan, who is the winner of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, was warmly felicitated by the Lakhimpur district unit of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad in this event in which artiste Khagen Bhuyan, professor Kumud Borah, advocate Khirod Kakati, and secretary of the institution, Baloram Baruah were present. The trainees displayed oja-pali in the programme. On the other hand, the general conference of the institution was also organized on June 2 and June 3 with a two-day long programme. Along with other programmes, a symposium on ‘Xattriya Sangeet-its importance, effect and future’ was held as part of the agenda.
