World Blood Donor Day observed

mrup, June 15:  Along with the other parts of the world, the World Blood Donor Day was observed at harkatia CHC on Wednesday under the auspices of harkatia CHC and in collaboration  with harani block PHC. Synchronizing with the current year’s theme, ‘What Can You Do’, ‘Give Blood, Give Now, Give Often’, a grand awareness procession was brought out at harkatia which was flagged off by Dr Bishwajit Baruah, SDM and HO, harani Block PHC. The procession was followed by an open session under the chairmanship of Chitra Baruah, noted social worker. Jayanta Dutta, Health Educator, mrup mini PHC, explained the objective of the meet. Dr Bishwajit Baruah graced the occasion as chief guest. In his speech, Dr Baruah dwelt at length on the significance and aim of the World Blood Donor Day and lucidly stated the benefits and need of blood transfusion that can save many lives and improve the quality of health.

The meet also witnessed a power point presentation by Dr Bishwajit Baruah highlighting all the vital aspects and some unknown facts and information relating to blood dotion. Dr. Baruah further added that a blood dotion camp will be organized at harkatia very soon.

Vikram Chhetri, Circle Officer, harkatia urged the Asha workers present in the session to spread the message of World Blood Donor Day to the rural areas and advised them to work more sincerely to fill the communication gap. Besides, MK Chetia and B. Brahma, CISF personnel from BVFCL CISF unit shared their views and experiences on blood dotion.

Dignitaries, including  Dr Jyoti Shyam, Deputy Superintendent, harkatia CHC, Bimal Dihingia, Principal, harkatia Jatiya Vidyalaya, Chandan Dhar Dev, senior citizen graced the occasion with their presence. A minute of silence was also observed for the eterl peace of Rubi Sonowal, an Asha worker who breathed her last recently.
