Would Have Liked A Different Approach, Says Mahesh Majrekar "Disappointed" On Sanju

Actor and producer Mahesh Majrekar, who appeared in a cameo within the Sanjay Dutt biopic, Sanju, has aforesaid that he was left wanting a lot of after watching the film. In an interview with the media, the Selection Day actor said that whereas Sanju succeeded as an advert film, it ‘disappointed’ him as a biopic.

“I have seen Sanju, and it's a superior commercial film. However, it left heaps unknown. I might have directed it with a unique approach,” Mahesh Majrekar aforesaid. He praised director Rajkumar Hirani’s success, saying that Rajkumar Hirani should have succeeded at what he started to try and do, considering the film’s about to Rs 600 large integer worldwide box workplace haul.

“Hirani was on a journey to form an advert film, and also the numbers recommend that he has succeeded in doing, therefore. As a film, I enjoyed it, however as a biopic, I used to be a bit disappointed,” Mahesh Majrekar aforesaid.

The Bollywood veteran plays himself in a cameo within the film, which starred Ranbir Kapoor as Sanjay Dutt. The film was criticised in certain quarters for whitewashing several debatable aspects of Dutt’s life, like his struggles with drug addiction and his several brushes with the law.

One of the critics wrote that Sanju deserves not just cynicism but scorn. It is an utterly dishonest film, one trying to make its severely flawed protagonist seem like an essentially nice guy who fell into bad company because of enablers. Mahesh has directed Dutt in several films, such as Vaastav: The Reality, Nidaan, Kurukshetra, Pitaah, Hathyar and others.

The film was recently within the news all over again once Hirani was defendant of harassment by a trained worker, whereas they were functioning on the film. He has denied all accusations.
