Writer Rupeswari Gohain Dangoria receives award

Doomdooma, Oct 9: Under the auspices of Tinsukia  Zila Sahitya Sabha (TZSS), the ni Neog Commemorative Award was formally given away for the first time to leading writer Rupeswari Gohain Dangoria on Sunday at Jugal Kishore Kishan Bhaban, Makum by Prahlad Tasha, vice-president, Axam Xahitya Xabha at a meeting organized on the occasion with president of TZSS, Prab Bora in the chair.
The award instituted by Benudhar Neog, a sincere and dedicated worker of the Xabha in memory of his wife ni Neog, consists of a citation, a trophy and cash amount. The awardee Rupeswari Gohain Dangoria, who was born in an interior village Chenga Pathar, is wife of Jobor Dangoria of Uban Mayamora Xatra near Kakapathar. Significantly, she started writing from 2012 only after her retirement as a teacher from Upar Urban Primary School in 2010. So far, she has published 12 books of poems, short stories, essays and Mayamoa religion to her credit. The meeting, which was anchored by the secretary Taranga Malla Baruah, was attended by many dignitaries, office-bearers of AXX branches, besides Benudhar- ni Neog’s son Himanta and two daughters Cheta and Pranita. The meeting condoled the death of jourlist Radhika Mohan Bhagawati and actor Abdul Mazid.
