Yoga - a significant tool for preventive healthcare

OIL organizes mass yoga demonstration on Intertiol Yoga Day

Dibrugarh, June 21: Oil India Limited (OIL), in association with Art of Living, Duliajan Chapter, organized mass yoga demonstration at Bihutoli, Duliajan to mark the second Intertiol Day of Yoga.

Responding to the call of the Ministry, OIL employees and senior executives along with a number of OIL employees and their families, school children, CISF jawans and general public participated in the yoga camp in the morning to observe the day.

The event started with ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Teros Gowala, MLA and Resident Chief Executive, OIL, JK Borgohain. While addressing the participants during the yoga demonstration,  JK Borgohain, RCE, OIL, talked about yoga as a significant tool for preventive healthcare and how it benefits to better physical, mental health and social harmony.  Borgohain then read out the message of Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State (IC) for Petroleum and tural Gas, Government of India, in English, followed by reading of the message in Assamese by DK Das, OIL and in Hindi by SK Dutta, OIL.

Yoga experts were called for demonstration of some modules of yoga postures. They exhibited few techniques of prayama and also elaborated how the asas (yoga posture) are to be correctly performed.

Common Yoga Protocol Booklet published by Ministry of AYUSH was also distributed among the participants for better understanding and awareness about Yoga.

Earlier OIL magement had advised the employees to imbibe the benefits from this ancient Indian knowledge, which has been remarkably enriched through ages of experiments to achieve a healthy body and mind. To ensure maximum participation in the yoga camp, OIL had carried out publicity by putting up banners at strategic places and through public address system.
