Yoga Day observed in Hailakandi

Hailakandi, June 21: Hailakandi district celebrated the 4th International Day of Yoga in a befitting manner. Hundreds of school children, dignitaries and enthusiasts turned up at the central function in the lawns of Deputy Commissioner’s office in the wee hours to celebrate the Yoga Day on Thursday. Additional Deputy Commissioner Amalendu Roy welcomed the participants and spoke on the importance of yoga. In his brief address, Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan said that the traditional practice lent harmony and balance to the body, mind and soul. “I urge everyone to make yoga a part of their lives,” he said. Khan spoke of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s participation in the Yoga Day as well as Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, in Dehradun and Assam respectively. Yoga instructor Kumar Das spoke on the various intricacies of yoga and its many-sided benefits. Thereafter, mass demonstration of yoga took place with hundreds of people participated. Government yoga instructors, including women instructors from Patanjali, demonstrated various asanas (postures). Instructor Parimal Paul explained the finer nuances of yoga.
