15 Traders Booked For Unfair Trade Practices In Itanagar

Itanagar: Continuing its drive against unfair trade practices, the Mobile Inspection Team (MIT) of the state department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs, conducted surprise inspection of various shops at Bank Tinali, VIP Road, Kime Pakka and C-Sector area in Itanagar and booked 15 traders for violation of various provisions of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 and Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011.

Of the 15 cases, nine traders, mostly car décor shops were booked for violation of Packaged Commodities Rules, 2011 for selling commodities including imported goods in packaged form without mandatory information like MRP, date of manufacturing, and other mandatory declaration, informed Hoktum Ori, Controller of Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs.

Some of the traders were also found selling commodities with smudging of MRP. Five traders have been also booked for using unverified weights and measures in their day-to-day transactions, Ori said.

The team also conducted surprise inspection of petrol pumps located at Itanagar. The team was comprised of Deputy Controller (HQ) Daro Marbom, Jurisdictional Asstt Controller Amrit Taba and Inspector (Itanagar) G Singpho and other staff.
