8th Edition of Pangsau Pass International Festival to Focus on People

Itanagar: Various modalities were discussed in a meeting for the eighth edition of the Pangsau Pass International Festival to be held next year at Nampong in Changlang district.

In order to enhance the visitors’ expectation, excitement and experience, the organising committee has decided in the meeting chaired by local MLA Laisam Simai, to celebrate the platinum jubilee of the famous Stillwell Road that will be 75 years old next year along with the tourism festival.

To extract maximum benefit for the rural pocket and villagers the committee has introduced new and decentralized concept by allowing three or more villages to host and organize various tradition based programmes that usually was showcased or performed in the main celebration ground.

The introduction of new modality has infused new level of enthusiasm in the bucolic folks as they too are becoming part of the festival instead of simply being a spectator. Meanwhile, the committee has ascertained that all the villages will be strategically located at the periphery of the main ground for the convenience of the visitors.

The primary theme of the festival will be to display the Tangsa tribe’s multi-culturalism as it has diverse sub-tribes with each one having a different dress, dance, and flavour. The festival will also offer platforms to all the tribes of Arunachal Pradesh along with other states of Northeast and Myanmar.

The cultural kaleidoscope it is going to proffer is certain to blow the mind of the visitors.

The main attraction of the festival as it has been experienced over its many editions is Pangsau Pass and Lake of No Return which is across the border in Myanmar. People flock the region for a glimpse of Myanmar and experience the hustle-bustle of Myanmar bazaar.

Being a sensitive region, the negotiation is going on regarding the visit to Pangsau Pass and MLA Laisam Simai has assured that some solution will be chalked out as the main attraction of the festival cannot be withheld.

Keeping in mind, the various problems confronted by the visitors while visiting Pangsau Pass, Simai has ensured to come out with some solid solution that will enable the visitors to revel in the festival’s ambience, a press release informed here on Tuesday.
