All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) Demands Adequate Teachers in Districts

Our Correspondent

Itanagar: Concerned over the dismal education scenario in the government-run schools in the Nyishi inhabited districts of Arunachal Pradesh, the All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) reiterated its demand to post adequate subject teachers and full-fledged principals and headmasters to the schools in those districts.

A team of the ANSU called on Education Minister Taba Tedir and apprised him of its demand.

The team stated that the reason for the ‘major breakdown of quality education system in the Nyishi inhabited areas’ was random upgrading of government schools because of politically motivated reasons, without proper sanctioning of subject teachers (PGTs, TGTs) for the upgraded schools, a press release informed.

“After our rigorous persuasion, the education department created posts for TGTs and PGTs. Now the department should fulfill our demand by posting adequate subject teachers to the schools in the Nyishi inhabited areas,” ANSU general secretary Tukbom Ligu said.

The union also demanded that the education department ensure uniform fees at all government schools, stating that the existence of “unparallel fee structures” has surfaced in many schools.

It further demanded that the department “act on rampant unregistered private schools in the Nyishi community areas.”
