ANSU threatens to launch capital bandh

OUR CORRESPONDENT

Itanagar, June 5: Expressing dissatisfaction over the State government’s alleged failure to fulfill its demand, the All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) has threatened to launch a 12-hours Capital Complex bandh call. It, however, did not disclose the date of the bandh.

The students’ union had last year demanded posting of regular principals, headmasters, subject teachers, etc., in all the Nyishi inhabited areas.

Addressing reporters here, ANSU general secretary Tukbom Ligu said that the Education Minister had convened a meeting in October last year wherein it was assured that the matter would be taken up.

Holding the State government “responsible” for the poor performance of the students in the recently announced CBSE exam results especially in Nyishi inhabited areas, Ligu said that had the State government addressed its demands as assured, the results would have been much better.

“Due to the failure of the State government to address the demands that the Nyishi belt suffered poor CBSE results this year,” he claimed, adding “The government is testing our patience”.

He added they have not yet fixed the date for the bandh keeping in view the various ensuing examinations.
