ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh reported four new Covid-19 cases, pushing the virus tally in the state to 55,255, a senior health official said here on Wednesday.

As many as 54,939 people recuperated from the disease so far in the state including two on Tuesday, the official said.

The coronavirus death toll in the state remained unchanged at 280 as no fresh fatality was registered in the past 24 hours, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

The northeastern state now has 36 active cases, he said. The recovery rate among the Covid-19 patients remained at 99.43 per cent, while the active ratio stood at 0.06 per cent.

Tawang district recorded the highest number of active cases at 10, followed by the Capital Complex Region - comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas and West Kameng district, at six cases each, said the SSO.

As many as 11,96,855 samples have been tested for coronavirus in the state thus far including, 364 on Tuesday, Jampa said adding, the positivity rate remained at 1.09 per cent.

State Immunisation Officer Dr Dimong Padung informed that a total of 13,90,597 people have been inoculated so far in the state including, 3,127 on Tuesday.
