ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh's COVID-19 tally rose to 174 with two more persons testing positive. The new cases were detected on Friday night from the Capital Complex and the West Siang district respectively said State Surveillance Officer L Jampa on Saturday.

"All of them had recently returned to the State and were in quarantine facilities. They are asymptomatic and have been admitted to COVID Care Centres," he added.

While the positive case from the State capital was a returnee from Manipur, the patient in West Siang district had recently returned from West Bengal.

With the fresh cases as on Friday, Arunachal has 124 actives cases. While 49 persons have recovered from the disease, a woman from West Kameng district died of the infection.

Three persons — each from Changlang, West Kameng and Lohit districts — recovered and were discharged from the COVID Care Centres on Friday, Dr Jampa said, adding, they have been advised to undergo strict 14-day home quarantine and self monitoring.

Changlang is the worst-hit district in the State with 56 active cases, followed by Itanagar Capital Complex (35) and West Kameng (9).

The first case in the State was reported on April 2, after a 31-year-old man tested positive for the disease following his return from a religious congregation in Delhi. He was discharged from a hospital on April 16. After almost six weeks, the State registered its second case on May 24, after a student, who had returned from Delhi, tested positive for the disease.
