Arunachal Pradesh Launched Emergency Response Support System

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Inspector General of Police (IGP) SP Hooda launched the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) at Police Headquarter (PHQ) here on Monday.

Hooda applauded the initiatives of the State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu for the single emergency number 112 under the ERSS project.

He appealed to the residents of the State to download ‘112 India’ mobile app available in the App Store of Google and Apple.

Hooda informed that ERSS is an initiative of the Ministry of Home Affairs funded by Nirbhaya Funds scheme, to cover all the emergency distress helpline number such as 100, 101 and 102, etc., into one common helpline number 112.

“This will mark the beginning of commencement of a single number-based 112 emergency services which will connect to Police, Fire, Health and other helplines through an Emergency Response Centre in the State” said Hooda.

Stating that the service also includes a ‘112 India’ mobile app integrated with the Panic Button of smartphones and ERSS State website for ease of citizen in availing immediate assistance, Hooda informed that on pilot project basis, the project will be implemented in Papumpare (rural), Papumpare (city) and East Siang districts. In the second phase, the major districts of the State will be incorporated.

To ensure safety of women, a shout feature has been introduced in ‘112 India’ mobile app to seek immediate assistance. The SHOUT feature is exclusively available to women for non-emergency cases such as domestic violence.
