Arunachal's COVID tally rises to 10,548; New patients 126

ITANAGAR: With 126 more persons tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours across Arunachal Pradesh, the State's tally rose to 10,548 on Monday. As on date, Arunachal now has 2,953 active coronavirus cases, informed State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa.

Altogether 18 persons have succumbed to the disease so far. Meanwhile, 190 people were cured of the disease and discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 7,577. Currently, the recovery rate among COVID-19 patients across the State is at 71.83 per cent.

Of the fresh cases, 48 were reported from the Capital Complex region followed by 15 from Changlang; 10 from West Siang; seven each from Tawang, West Kameng and Lower Subansiri; six from Lepa Rada; five each from Upper Siang and Papumpare; four from Tirap; three each from East Siang and Lower Siang; two each from Kurung Kumey and Lohit; and one each from Longding and Lower Dibang Valley districts respectively.

Among the new patients are an Army man, two personnel of the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and three staffers of the State Police. Barring 15, all the new patients are asymptomatic and have been shifted to COVID Care Centres.

The Capital Complex region — comprising the areas of Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa — has the highest number of active cases at 1,549, followed by West Siang (193), Papumpare (189), Changlang (143) and Upper Subansiri (106). A total of 2,57,972 samples have been tested for COVID-19 so far, including 1,821 on Sunday, added Dr Jampa.
