Awareness meet on traffic rules organized at Masang Dung Rhuemey

Itanagar: In continuation with its efforts to regulate traffic congestion and traffic rule violators in Tawang township, the district administration and police on Monday created awareness among the people of the district on traffic regulation.

The awareness programme was organized at Masang Dung Rhuemey and other recently drawn zebra crossing areas in the old market, an official release informed.

NCC cadets from both boy and girl divisions were engaged in traffic management and educating public on traffic rules and safe driving.

Town Magistrate Choiki Dondup and DSP Dr Thuptan Jambey gave awareness on traffic rules, dos and dont’s while driving for the taxi drivers.

Both the officers also requested the taxi drivers to be very polite, honest and disciplined in their profession.

“Taxi drivers play a very important role in making good or bad impression of any tourist destination. Be the good ambassadors of tourism and contribute in making our state more tourists friendly,” Dondup said.

The awareness camp would be held for a few weeks more in order to encourage moral policing.

“Anybody found violating the rules will be strictly penalized and strict legal actions will be initiated to the defaulters,” the town magistrate added.
