‘Centre committed to development of NE’ Says Ramdas Athawale

Itanagar: Union Minister Ramdas Athawale on Wednesday said that the Centre is committed to the all-round development of the Northeast by providing better education, employment, health and social security to the people.

Gracing the Nyokum Yullo celebration of the Nyishi community at Doimukh, near here, the Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment highlighted various flagship programmes of the Central Government and its benefits.

He called upon the people to avail benefits of such schemes.

While greeting the people on the occasion, the minister admired the rich colourful culture and traditions of the Nyishi community and expressed his happiness to be a part of the celebration.

Athawale appreciated the community for preserving its age old traditions of celebrating Nyokum Yullo with full traditional fervour by maintaining unique identity of its own.

Principal scientist of Central Institute of Fresh Aquaculture (CIFA) Dr PP Chakraborty thanked the festival committee for their respect and hospitality and lauded the Nyishi community for upholding its separate identity with pride.

Local legislator Tana Hali Tara also expressed gratitude to the minister and his entire entourage for gracing the festival.
