Itanagar: Blowing the poll bugle, the Congress in Arunachal Pradesh on Friday released the ‘chargesheet’ (progress report card) against the BJP government at the Centre as well as in the State highlighting alleged misgovernance.

Releasing the document at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan here, Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Takam Sanjoy informed that party president Rahul Gandhi has directed all the party units to release such documents highlighting the failure of the BJP-ruled States in the country.

The 20-page document criticized the NDA government at the Centre as well as the BJP government in the State led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu for their failure to fulfil the promises made in the election manifesto published during the 2014 general election.

Besides highlighting the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016, demonetization, GST, Rafael scam, hike in petrol, diesel, kerosene and LPG prices, the document also criticized the NDA government for religious intolerance and dictate on food habits, non-waiving of farmers loan, failure to deposit Rs 15 lakh in the account of every Indian as promised.

The Congress in the document alleged that the NDA government had withdrawn the special category state status under Article 371 (H) from several northeastern States besides withdrawal of subsidy related schemes from the region.

While criticizing the NDA government for its attack on democratic institutions like CBI, RBI, Election Commission and Central Vigilance Commission, the party alleged that the Jan Dhan Yojana introduced by the Centre was full of ‘empty promises’.

The document – Paanch Saal Desh Badhaal – also criticized the NDA government for stopping or delaying financial grant to institutes of higher education’s in Arunachal Pradesh namely NIT, Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) and North East Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST).

In a scathing attack of the BJP government in the State, the Congress alleged that the Pema Khandu-led BJP government miserably failed in all fronts and law and order deteriorated in different districts with reports of rape and murder increasing.

While referring to the 245-crore compensation scam on the Potin-Joram stretch of the Trans Arunachal Highway (TAH), the Congress in the document also criticized the Khandu government for the alleged unprovoked killing of three persons in police firing during the anti-PRC (Permanent Resident Certificate) issue violence last month.

It also alleged that the PRC issue violence escalated because of announcement made by Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein in public functions to grant PRC to non-Arunachalees, without frameworks being finalized by the Joint High Power Committee (JHPC) on PRC.

It also criticised the government for the question paper fiasco in the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) and arbitrary appointment of a new body of Fifth Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) without following the laid down guidelines, which evoked strong protest in the State.
