Demand for increase in job reservation
Itanagar, June 2: The All Arunachal Pradesh Unemployed Engineers' Association, (AAPUEA) has demanded of the state government to increase the ratio of job reservation for APSTs and non-APSTs to 90:10 from the current 80:20.
Stating that there are more than 57,396 registered educated unemployed youths in the state, in addition to thousands of unregistered semiliterate and unskilled persons, the association in a representation to the chief minister appealed to him to look into the demand on priority.
It also demanded refund of the examination or application fees that were paid to the rural work and UD & housing departments for recruitment to the posts of junior engineer (civil)) and AUPO (civil) during 2016-'17. Thousands of unemployed engineers, both APST and non-APST, had applied for both the posts and paid Rs 50 and Rs 100, respectively, as examination fees, the association said.
"But the departmental examinations for recruitment to the posts were cancelled and, later, these posts were transferred to the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC)," it said.
It said the APPSC recently floated advertisements for the same vacancies afresh, along with various other posts in various departments.
"Again, Rs 100 is being charged as examination fee from the candidates, including those who had already paid the examination fees during 2017 for the same posts," it said.
The association demanded exemption of fees from candidates who already paid for the same posts last year.
It also demanded complete exemption of application or examination fee for APST candidates applying for any government job.
